Open After Terms of Service

Last Updated: September 2026

Summary. Open After is a self-imposed screen-time app: you choose apps to hold and unlock them by doing a small habit first. Three habits and two held apps are free; everything else requires Open After Pro (a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase) handled by Apple. The app is a productivity aid, not a lock — a bypass is always available — and it is not a medical or safety tool.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Open After mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Open After lets you choose apps on your own device to hold during schedules you set, and unlocks them for a number of minutes when you complete a habit first — for example a guided breathing pause, a glass of water, a focus timer, or a walk verified with Apple Health. The free tier includes three habits, up to two held apps, and daily stats. Open After Pro (see Section 4) unlocks all habits, unlimited held apps, and custom minutes per habit.

3. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's App Store terms.

4. Open After Pro: Subscriptions and Lifetime Purchase

Open After Pro is available as:

All purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. Current prices, and whether a free trial applies to you, are always displayed in the App before purchase.

Free trial. Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. A free trial is available once per Apple Account, as determined by Apple.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your App Store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

Cancellation. You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time in your device's Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Pro access until then. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple, and refund requests are processed by Apple under their policies. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Restoring purchases. Use the "Restore purchases" option in the App to re-activate Pro on a new or reset device signed into the same Apple Account.

If a subscription ends. The App returns to the free tier. If you had more than two held apps, the App keeps two and releases the rest; you can choose which two at any time in Settings.

5. Screen Time and Held Apps

The App uses Apple's Screen Time framework, with your authorization, to hold apps you selected on your own device. You are responsible for what you choose to hold. Do not hold apps you may need for safety, health, or emergencies: while the App always offers an immediate bypass ("I need access now", subject to a daily limit you configure), and any completed habit opens your apps, you should not rely on the App being available in an emergency.

Holding apps is a convenience you set for yourself. The App does not guarantee that any app will be blocked at any particular time, and Apple's Screen Time behaviour may vary between iOS versions.

6. Health and Wellness Disclaimer

Open After is a productivity aid, not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, psychological, or health advice. Habits such as breathing pauses or walking are general wellness activities; consult a professional before starting any activity you are unsure about. Step counts come from Apple Health and may be incomplete or inaccurate; the App relies on them only to decide whether a walking habit is complete.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, artwork, text, habit content, and branding, is owned by the developer and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY APP WILL BE HELD OR RELEASED AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING ANY LOSS ARISING FROM AN APP BEING HELD OR NOT HELD. IN NO EVENT SHALL TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time; deleting the App removes all locally stored data. Sections 5 through 9 survive termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
